A Turn-Key Movement Skills Lesson Plan For All Ages
Movement Academy Youth Movement Skills Program
The founders of Movement Academy recognized that many students and athletes lacked fundamental movement skills. In response, they developed Movement Academy – a turn-key movement skills lesson plan that is affordable and adaptable – in an effort to help young people learn the proper fundamentals of movement and develop a fit lifestyle. In an age of sports specialization and de-emphasis of physical education, the development of proper fundamental movement skills is often overlooked. The program is intended for all youths from their entry into the school/organization through high school and aids in the development of more fundamentally sound students and athletes. Movement Academy utilizes a sequential program designed to develop balance, stability, dynamic movement, object control, and more – all fit within valuable class or practice time. Participating students can improve both physical and academic performance.
Movement Academy Independence and Wellness Programs for Older Adults
Shortly after launching the Youth Movement Skills Program, Movement Academy was approached by a physician’s group interested in utilizing the Movement Skills Program for Older Adults. Their interest was based on the science of neuroplasticity, and how the Movement Academy programs could benefit older participants both physically and cognitively. Thus was born the Active Agers Program, which provides movement skills development specifically designed to target stimulation of the various spheres of the brain. More than just a bunch of repetitive exercises, the Movement Academy program offers a science based exercise regimen with constantly changing challenges to stimulate all areas of the mind and body.
